Top 25 sneaker designs of 2009

I agree completey with some of these designs but others.... i wonder... What exactly was Business Week thinking?

And he deserves it...

Kanye West has been named one of the best artist of the decade by Rolling Stones Magazine... And he deserves it

Judgemental??.. ..But who am i NOT to judge...

Often when one is labeled with the term “judgmental”, it carries a negative connotation…and of course I strongly disagree with that notation.

By definition, judgment means“the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions”. So I ask you, how can you determine what you want out of life without making some type of judgment? By default, every time you say ”yes” to something, you’re saying “no” to something else…and who’s better than you to determine which one is best for you?

Now what I strongly disagree with is when one condemns once a judgment is made. Regardless of how much someone believes in what they believe in, it doesn’t automatically mean that those who don’t are wrong and some type of punishment is now required. Your personal beliefs should be just that…YOUR personal beliefs…and the only person who should face consequences for not living up to them is YOU!

I never quite understood why so many people require outside validation on their belief system. Especially since there’s no one who’s ever above doing something that someone else thinks is a total waste of time. It’s funny as I wrote that sentence, I wondered if I was wasting my time in writing this…LOL!

In all seriousness, in my life time, I’ve never known a successful person who wasn’t judgmental…and likewise, I’ve never known an unsuccessful person who was... Yeah.. Take some time and think about that one...

A new point of view....

A couple of weeks ago during a conversation with one of my friends, I stated that I’ve never had an argument with anyone who was smarter than me. What seemed to be something just said in passing has actually made a profound impact in my way of being…

I know now for sure that there is no reason to argue with anyone based on this new way of thinking. Allow me to further explain…
If I have determined that you are smarter than me, it would be extremely dumb ass on my part to argue with you, because by doing so, I have greatly decreased the chance to learn something. Likewise, if I’ve determined you not to be as smart as me, I’m even more of a dumb ass to partake in an argument, because it usually ends in wasted energy.

Please note that this doesn’t mean not to partake in a debate or a healthy exchange of ideas. That would be quite counter productive in your journey of becoming better. Continue debating as well as the exchanging of ideas…just do it without involving anger, because as soon as anger comes into play, the argument is sure to follow.

Just something to consider for all those who don’t like being a dumb ass!!!

You can negotiate anything..

Try to regard all encounters and situations, including your job, as a game, as the world of illusions. Pull back a little and enjoy it all. Do you best, but don’t fall apart if everything doesn’t pan out the way you’d like it to. Remember that things are seldom what they seem. Even skim milk masquerades as cream, and as Oscar Levant once said, “When you strip away the phony tinsel, what do you find underneath? The real tinsel.”

I came across this passage this weekend when while skimming wikiquote. And it dawned on my how well it relates to my life!

This is one of Apple's earlier ads. Its actualy really cool. It reminds me of Levi's new ads.

Apple could have took over Microsoft a long time ago, but Steve Jobs was obviously not thinking ;ong term. Good thing he has evolved as a business man

What is it? By: Joy Fejoku

Are winners born or created? This is quite the interesting question, especially when you look around and see so many obvious winners and losers in the world.

After much thought, I’ve settled with the belief that winners arecreated. I just don’t think people are born destined to be winners in life. To take it a step further – just to prove my point, of course – I find it would be more accurate to say we all start life weak and destined to lose without proper intervention from those close to us, stronger than us. We’re taught to win and supported in weakness until we’re strong enough to win on our own. We’re taught how to eat, walk, talk, think… There are stories of babies who grew up in the wild, with only animals – let’s just say they didn’t become the normal socially and mentally adept people we’re used to seeing day to day. All these things are normal to us and go without saying but I see much insight to be gained here if one takes the time to think about it.

I think much can be credited to the images of ourselves we internalize. If you consider yourself a weak person, you’re already more than halfway there to being one. As I see it, strength and weakness as defined by outward will and power are not respectively attached to winning and losing. Some walk through life with such a strong outward energy that they readily bend the will of others to theirs, others walk through life with a much less subduing force – such is life. Not everyone is meant to be an offensive lineman in life some are meant to be graceful ballerinas. It’s up to each to assess our personal attributes, both positive and negative. This goes a long way in creating a life that continuously plays to one’s positives attributes. True strength, the kind it takes to win over and over again (in life) is inner strength. The ability to consistently and constantly bend yourself to your own will. This type of strength is there for all who want it and are willing to work as hard as they have to in order to develop it within themselves.

It’s really that simple. You’ll become who you create yourself to be, passively or proactively. In either case, take the blame, take the fame…

Own your choices and choose wisely!

I also don’t buy into the idea of trying to find out who you’re supposed to be in life. Finding out your innate strengths and weaknesses are is time better spent. It’ll help carve out a life plan that that plays to your strengths in the attainment of your goals.

Winner: someone who finishes what they set out to
-competing against life’s opposing forces
-needed, mental strength and heart
-vision and purpose

Forever and Ever?

People so seldom say I love you And then it's either too late or love goes. So now, when I tell you I love you, It doesn't mean I know you'll never go, Only that I wish you didn't have to. But then I say to myself, you're not gone, just.. Who knows... Before today i had no problem saying that I never regretted anything in my life. I guess I could still say it, but id be lying through my teeth. I mean, there was a time when my life was full of "sure things". then after all those things faded. It was still cool, because i still had one. There was one thing that was still sure. I was sure youd be there tomorrow. No matter what i did, i knew you'd be there tomorrow. But today.. today im not sure. Nothing is sure anymore. And like i said... "well it seemed like a good idea at the time", Now.. not so much... Often times id think about time travel. What would i do if i could go back in time? How far would i go back? What would I change? Of course i want to go and re-live my favorite year of high school. Maybe i wouldnt have bought that honda or lexus. Maybe a mercedes? lol. IM NOT EVEN SURE ABOUT THAT. But i do know that if i could go back to mid 2008. I would short the whole stock market, lol. And i know that if i could change todays events, i would. Sure thing.....

You know the thing about regret is.... It comes too late. At first its.."it seemed like a good idea at the time".. then all of a sudden.. All you can say is "What if"... Forever and Forever? Well its not a sure thing anymore....

"Forever and ever Babe"

Then the worst thing is that i cant even say this to you because then.... I'd REALLY feel ike an asshole,O FML,lol

No remorse

“Whenever a warrior decides to do something, he must go all the way, but he must take responsibility for what he does. No matter what he does, he must know first why he is doing it, and then he must proceed with his actions without having doubts or remorse about them.”

-Carlos Castaneda

The Worldest Greatest

I came across some great Ali quotes in the midst of some late night browsing last night. Ali has been someone that I’ve admired for as long as I can remember. And At first I just threw a few of them on my Facebook status. But when I woke up this morning still thinking about them, I knew that I had to share.

Enjoy!
“When you are as great as I am, it is hard to be humble.”

“At home I am a nice guy: but I don’t want the world to know. Humble people, I’ve found, don’t get very far.”

“I am America. I am the part you won’t recognize, but get used to me. Black, confident, cocky – my name, not yours. My religion, not yours. My goals, my own. Get used to me.”

“Friendship… is not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything.”

“I’m the most recognized and loved man that ever lived cuz there weren’t no satellites when Jesus and Moses were around, so people far away in the villages didn’t know about them.”

“It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe.”

“Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even.”

“Silence is golden when you can’t think of a good answer.”

“My way of joking is to tell the truth. That’s the funniest joke in the world.”

“All I want now is to be a nice, clean gentleman. I’ve proved my point. Now I’m going to set an example for all the nice boys and girls. I’m through talking.”

Welcome to the future

SCIENTISTS USE COMPUTER TO ‘READ MINDS’ ON SCREEN
Scientists have discovered how to read ‘the mind’s eye’ using a computer that can replicate what humans are seeing or recalling by monitoring their brain activity.

The breakthrough, by a team at the University of California, raises the prospect of scientists eventually being able to record dreams or enable police to identify criminals by recalling the memories of a witness.

The development is similar to that envisaged in the film Minority Report, in which an individual’s private thoughts can be readily accessed by the authorities.
Neurologists at the university have already matched patterns of activity in the brain with static images seen by the person, and now say it is possible to “decode” signals generated in the brain by moving scenes.

Their work, which has yet to be peer reviewed, could lead to technology that would allow security agencies to interrogate prisoners.

The experiment used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) technology to scan the brains of two patients as they watched videos, linking patterns of activity in the visual cortex of their brains with movement and colours in the footage.

The information was used to program software to be able to display a blurry ‘mind’s eye’ version of the footage of the films the patients were watching.

Scientists at University College London have conducted separate tests that detect, with an accuracy of about 50%, memories recalled by patients.

The discoveries come amid a flurry of developments in the field of brain science. Researchers have also used scanning technology to measure academic ability, detect early signs of Alzheimer’s and other degenerative conditions, and even predict the decision a person is about to make before they are conscious of making it.

In Britain, fMRI scanning technology has been sold to multinational companies enabling them to see how consumers subconsciously react to brands.

Syle Guide:What items should I always travel with?

So i just thought i would post a few tips about what some things you should always travel with. Read more to find out.

Wherever you are, wherever you’re going, you will need a classic dark sport coat. The more timeless the jacket, the more versatile it becomes — which means you will need to bring only one. We suggest wearing it while you travel instead of balling it up in your suitcase. Next is a fine-gauge cashmere sweater: cable knit, V-neck or cardigan will do. You’ll probably pull it out during the flight and layer it under your sport coat for dinner that night. Naturally wrinkle resistant, a classic white oxford shirt is perfect for long flights. You will step off the plane in the same condition that you boarded in and it’s a given that you will wear that shirt at least one more time during your trip. Leather or velvet loafers are the best footwear option for travel. They look great with jeans, chinos or suits and are easily removed at security gates and again when you get comfortable in your private first-class sleeping pod. Of course, you will need a sophisticated duffle to carry it all--we suggest leather. It can handle the rough journey and good leather only gets better with time and wear.

Kanye West: Glow in the Dark

Kanye West Glow in the Dark captures on-stage and behind-the-scenes action from Kanye’s “Glow in the Dark” tour. From Bonnaroo to Beijing (and many stops before and in between) the global voyage comes to life through the captivating photography of Nabil Elderkin. Kanye’s conceptual sketches help contextualized the finished staging, and provide a welcome complement to the action footage. Most compelling, however, are the shots of Kanye backstage both alone and with fellow performers.

The book begins with a conversation between Mr. West and Spike Jonze. Their chat covers Kanye’s reasoning for documenting the tour and delves into family and politics as well. From there, the images play out chronologically through the tour dates. Towards the end, press and listening parties for 808’s and Heartbreak fold into the story. With little text, Kanye West Glow in the Dark, is primarily about visual spectacle. The accompanying cd includes live instrumentals, which work to help flesh out the feel of the stage performance. Richer than the studio recordings, these tracks are a welcome addition.

For those of us who were unable to catch the tour, the book serves well. Until, of course, a tour video comes…

The book is published by Rizzoli and available to order through Colette.

Selected pages after the jump.

The most important thing in your life

What you think means more than anything else in your life. More than what you earn, more than where you live, more than anything that you might have or lost, and certainly more than what anyone else may think of you…simply because what you think will determine them all.

Think about it!!

The recipe for long term joy

Perception is Everything..

I was talking to this girl earlier... And in the middle of the conversation about my upcoming book....She stopped and said..."Are you really rich?".. I after i spoke on that i realized that perception is everything.

Perception is how we see the world around us. It’s the image we have of everything around us. Suppose you are sitting in a crowded train early in the morning on your way to work in the city or in a bus, and you look around you, you observe the commuters or passengers and from their attitudes, style, dress sense, mannerism deduce certain information to form an opinion about them. The opinions you ascertain might be far from the truth and in most cases are, but unless and until you know them personally you cannot know what “is” the truth or what they “really” are like. With the information you learn from the people around you, you unconsciously filter it and approve or disapprove of it, depending on what you consider good or bad.
At times I feel like, or I sense, that I am being judged simply because I fit into previously held preconceptions of some people. People have the tendency to stereotype, and they do this too involuntarily because of previous experiences or because of what the society wants them to believe.

I certainly believe in my abilities as a person and my contribution to this society is vital, therefore, I am saying this without having to sound like someone who suffers from some sort of inferiority complex that, usually Black people are ‘expected’ to behave and act in certain ways, dress in a particular way especially black males like myself. So when a case goes to court and the defendant is black, it is most likely that all evidence will lean heavily towards the defendant and ‘some’ of the Jury members would have formed their verdicts even before the case begins! Why? Because there are staunch in their beliefs and preconceived notions and nothing would change them, hence, the laws of equality and racial discrimination become nothing but fictional.

Perception, too, is something that cannot be so easily changed, for a person to change his/her view of the world must take considerable strain and strength!

But nonetheless. Perception is everything.

The "proof".. What we didnt see..

Glenn got back on his show and "proved" that he in fact did not kill a frog....Although this just proves my point of how the media practices premeditated manipulation…

Defining Yourself and the art of positive possibility....

The ages of youth are classically designated as the time for self-discovery. People are expected to figure out who they are, what they’re about and what they’re going to do with their lives. While up until the age of thirty might be a more pronounced period of self-discovery and self-definition, age is playing a smaller role in this process.

People are waking up and realizing they’ve created lives that no longer satisfy them. Some are finding that they’ve lost themselves in the process of living in the rat race and need to embark upon a process of discovery. Increasingly, there’s obvious financial pressure compounded with a pressure for authenticity and a life representative of congruency between work and home life.

“Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself.”

- George Bernard Shaw

Our journeys take us from one place to another, adding to our experiences, expanding our horizons and granting us greater perspective. It’s never too late to start over. Many times, it’s the antidote we so feverishly seek.

In the past year, I’ve written about letting go several times. It’s a personal challenge we all face in varying degrees throughout our lives, and so integral to the process of starting over. Living in regret is a waste of time. In fact, living anywhere but here and now is wasting time. Stop wasting time. Create a you and a life you want and will be proud of. Explore the possibilities.

Find what’s truly important to you. What brings you joy? What are you passionate about?Whats your natural high? How can you put more of that into your life? If you truly have no idea where to begin, a great experiential book I’d recommend is The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.

“For what it’s worth, it’s never too late, or in my case too early,
to be whoever you want to be…I hope you make the best of it.
I hope you see things that stop you.
I hope you feel things that you never felt before.
I hope you meet people with a different point of view.
I hope you live a life that you’re proud of and if you find that you’re not,
I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”

- Benjamin Button, played by Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Is this what you want??

Fame Kills from kwest on Vimeo.

This is what happens when creativity refuses to be limited by the definition of others. I can understand why most mediocre mindsets would think that I’m bias when it comes to Kanye because of his great music over the years. That might be partial true being that everything he puts out is pretty much gold…but anyone who thinks that’s where my thought process ends clearly doesn’t have any idea of the magnitude of my intellect.

My intellect refuses to be bound, to be limited or diminished for any reason…for it is infinite and must question everything regardless of the source. It would be going against my fundamental self to not recognize and applaud any individual who is not only SUPER TALENTED in their work, but also FEARLESS in presenting it to the world! Unfortunately that combination doesn’t come along too often. I often wonder what would the world be like if there were more super talented fearless individuals?

One positive that came from the so-called “stolen VMA moment” scandal is how it revealed genuine feelings which allowed us to know exactly where we stand with people. So many people were just absolutely reckless with their dumb founded accusations that I was just left in utter amazement of the depth of the dumbness. My favorite came in form of an e-mail that stated, “That was probably the most racist thing I ever witness in my 61 years on this earth.” Oh really…the MOST racist thing in your 61 years?! I’m quite sure that this is the same person who goes to town-hall meetings and shouts…”keep the government out of my medicare!”

We must become better in the way that we express our discontent with one another. I agree with Gandhi that a HEALTHY discontent is the prelude to progress. No one is or should ever be above receiving constructive criticism…but be mindful not to wonder into the realm of overkill. That’s when the constructive turns destructive and the lesson is lost. Sadly destructive behaviors are very easy to invoke mainly because they don’t require any accountability…which the media does to perfection!

I leave you with a previously posted quote by Albert Einstein to ponder…“Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.”

Thank You and Youre Welcome.....
